Adsorption potentials of iron-based metal–organic framework for methyl orange removal: batch and fixed-bed column studies

In the present work, continuous fixed-bed column and batch studies were undertaken to investigate efficiency of iron-based metal–organic framework (Fe-BTC) for removal methyl orange as a model contaminant from aqueous solutions. The experiments carried out by varying operational parameters such adsorbent dosage, pH, temperature, initial concentration. results showed that Fe-BTC had high under wide pH range. equilibrium data best fitted Langmuir with maximum adsorption capacity 100.3 mg g?1 at 298 K. order assess industrial feasibility Fe-BTC, conducted obtain breakthrough curves, saturation times, uptakes different bed heights. time was 20.0 46.2 h 0.75 1.5 cm depths, respectively. 35.2 46.7% depth, 20.2 21.6 mg/g Moreover, application empirical curve models good agreement modified dose response (R2> 0.99).
